If data input is involved, Scribe will accept any of the formats positioned above the format separator line titled: Drag formats above this line (the active format area); however, only the format that you position to the top of the list will be used to display the date in the application component for which the Preference is set. Active formats can be repositioned by dragging the format names within the active format area.
The bottom of the panel has a test display to check the visual appearance of any existing format; to test: make a selection, then click on the traversal buttons. If none of the Date formats are suitable, you can add a new one with Date Formats Editor; then set your Preferences.
