Input Action
These options provide flexibility for data input action and certain cursor
moves.
- Ask
The field is editable (cursor in
position) without any data in the field.
- Suggest
The field will display the same data as was used in the same field of
the previous record (with the exception of the Amount field) and select the
text
- ready for acceptance or replacement with new data.
In the case of the amount field of a Transaction Template,
the suggested amount will be the amount needed to balance the document
being entered
(i.e. if the running total is +100.00 the suggested amount
will be -100.00).
To accept the suggested data, tab or <CR>. To edit, type the
replacement data or delete the suggested data.
- Repeat
The field will insert the same data as was used in the same field of
the previous record and the cursor will be placed into the next available
editable field,
if any. To edit the repeated data, select text in that field with a mouse
click or navigate to it using the Change field.
- Skip
This action causes the cursor to skip over this field to the next editable
field. This feature is useful for a number of situations. For example,
assume that you have a Transaction Date field with a Procedure that
calculates and inserts the required payment date into a Due Date field.
Setting the Due Date field to a Skip action will then remove
it from manual interaction unless the field is specifically activated with
a mouse click or the Change field
- this might be desirable, if you want to to have a manual override to
the Procedure.
- Lock
This action changes the editable status to non-editable status as far
as keyboard action is concerned. It can be populated by procedural action
e.g. if the Due
Date field (see Skip explanation) were set to Lock instead of Skip,
then the Transaction Date Procedure could still calculate the Due
Date but no manual override would be possible.
